The logs on this house were painted with a latex paint which trapped moisture in the logs causing them to rot. Many trees surrounded the house preventing any natural drying from the sun.

Bushes were removed and many of the logs were replaced in these areas. Instead of extending the roof overhangs this customer had us install vertical posts on the corners to prevent water damage from happening on the log ends that stick out.

Log replacement was done on this corner and the log ends were cut back a few inches to protect them from water and ice draining off the roof. The roof overhang should be extended next time the shingles are replaced.

This cabin built in the 1920’s needed several logs replaced due to water damage. After log replacement, the cabin was corn-cob blasted to remove the old paint which caused most of the rot damage. The cabin was then stained and chinked.
