My house was stained with sikkens it needed to be staying about 3 years ago started peeling so we hired someone to strip it and they power washed it then put a different kind of stain which is woodguard but now it has like a furring on the logs why is it from the stain and we'll lay down in a couple weeks or is it from too hard of sanding or power washing please help don't know what to do it cost a lot of money to have this done
We built a flat log with chinking over 20 yrs ago in western NC. Over the years we have had hurricanes and the heavy winds/rain come through. We are pelted with sideways wind and rain and therefore have had weeping on the inside from the knotholes. Because of this there are drip stains from those knotholes and am wondering what cleaner you would suggest that would not lighten the wood in that specific area. Because of the weeping we have been forced to put a sealer on outside of logs that has stop the problem but now have the drips inside to figure out.
Our log home is 30 years old and we constantly fight weather and bees which damage the cross corners. We want to cut them off and install a wood "cap" of wood over the ends. Has this been done? Is there anything special we need to do? Thank you.
I have a 60s log home, appears it was coated with cresote, looks dark and ugly, want to bring back a natural wood color. Was thinking of blasting, removing old mortar chinking, sanding, new synthetic chinking, and coating. What methods and materials do you recommend?
We have a log home. We have been hearing a crunching noise in the wood. What insect could this be and what can be done. Thanks so much, Cindy
