Should I prime smooth bare logs before applying stain?

QUESTION:  Should I prime smooth bare logs before applying an oil stain, Thank you, Joe larrow

ANSWER:  No on the primer.  I would also recommend a latex stain made for log homes like LifeLine or Capture/Cascade.  They latex stain is a breathable surface and can allow vapor out, where as oil based stains trap it in the wood.
