we are putting up some live edge log slabs and are going to have 4 to 5 inches of space between them they are 2'' thick and I would like to fill in some of that space before putting on the log jam I was going to use the blue installation foam board but they recommend you not to what should I do?

You should use Grip Strip.  It is a closed cell foam and will not "gas" like bead board or blue board causing the chinking to bubble.  Call 800-564-2987 to purchase.
