I stained logs in fall of 2015 on my new entryway

I stained logs in fall of 2015 on my new entryway with Sikkens Stain. Maybe st of the logs surface are really holding up well and I’m going to apply another clear coat after cleaning with TSP. I have a few spots on direct sun surface that are peeling a little. Can I steel wool and restrain just those spots be fore sealing the rest? What would you recommend? Thanks, Dave

NEVER use steel wool.  It will stick into the wood fiber and cause rust over time.  Use a green #M scratch pad and then stain.
