QUESTION:  We are starting to build a log home. We were told by a previous log home builder (not a professional) to put these white foam strips between the logs just for a little bit of insulation. They were about 4 inches wide and an eighth of an inch deep and you get them in a big long roll of maybe 50 feet. I have been unable to find anything like that except for sound insulation. Do you have any suggestions? Where can I find this?

ANSWER:  I would not use anything that is not recommended by the log home company with their logs, but yes, most kit style homes have a closed cell foam placed in between each log course.
