QUESTION: We had our rotting logs cut away and replaced with half logs. I am having a hard time matching the stain color of the new logs to the existing old logs. I do not want to blast the entire house to get this match. Any suggestions more than trial and error.
ANSWER: You will have to experiment with some darker stains probably to best match the existing logs. Having not stripped the house makes it a little tougher. We normally strip the entire house after the logs have been replaced and then stain the new ones to look as close as possible to the old bare stripped ones. We then stain the entire house. It may take several coats on the new logs to blend in.
