QUESTION: We own a 40 yr old cedar home. When we purchased the home 15 yrs ago, a carpenter ant problem was reported. The interior walls/ceilings are unfinished T&G cedar. Several of the boards are showing recent insect damage? Small spots that have a shape like a hot tamale candy or jelly bean. Other areas are longer tracks mostly running with the grain. The indentations are powder like in appearance. There is no active sign of anything, bug, ant, beetle, dust accumulation. But yet it is continuing to get worse. I have had pest service for three years! I have had three different pest companies look at it and none of them had and answer for me! I want to repair the wood and apply a light stain to it but not until the problem has been resolved. I hope you can help Thank you
ANSWER: Unfortunately, I would recommend a pest control service in this situation. Maybe try getting a second company for another opinion.
