So sorry if the has already been sent. When I stain my cabin it comes out VERY shiny! To shiny of a look for a log cabin. This year I decided to get a top coat that was a clear satin in hopes it would dull the shine. It didn't work. Is there something you know of I can do that would dull the shine. You will have to strip it or put a solid stain over it.  Try calling the manufacturer to see if they can recommend something.
