Question: We have purchased a log home that is as the prototype for the log structures built on the Appalachian trail. We want to restore/insulate as best as possible. What exists now is Oakum only between the logs on the interior and exterior. The logs are placed with no spacing other than the Oakum. Recommendation on potential for better insulation between the logs
Answer: Remove as much of the Oakum as possible and apply Conceal caulk using Grip Strip backer where needed.
