QUESTION:  We are purchasing a log house. We are hoping to re finish the inside logs white or as white as we can go. What is the best way to do this. Wondering if there is a way we can use paint and white wash the logs or if we should be using a solid stain.also what is the best way to get the stain or paint to stick. Lightly sand or fully sand all the logs down and start with bare log again.thanks for any info

ANSWER:  I would recommend a solid white stain.  You should be able to do a light sanding and be good to go.  If the logs are rough I would recommend a full sanding to get them smooth (no more than 60 grit) so that they are to clean and easy to keep dusted.
